Daniele’s Vacuum the Star of the Show!
For the 29th and 30th of May, Castle d’Ursal in Belgium the venue for the 2014 Cordefactum Festival and was the place to be for anyone interested in the classical guitar. Already sold out before the festival opened I was surprised, yet delighted, to see so many guitar aficionados in the audience for my lecture. Aiming to demonstrate how I have developed new skills and techniques that have made the Construction of a Daniele Chiesa Contemporary Classical Guitar so different from the norm. My lecture covered wood selection and techniques for effective humidity control but by far the topic that captured the attention of the audience was my growing use of Vacuum equipment in the build of my guitars. Covering the concept of using a vacuum, the pressure available and the techniques, tools and machines needed to take advantage of its power and the audience response to my practical examples was fascinating as it generated a great deal of interest and many questions.
